Oren “Von” Limbaugh, J.D., LL.M, Mediator

Von Limbaugh is the founder of The Limbaugh Law Firm, where he leverages over twenty-five years of experience to provide sophisticated counsel in elder law, wills, trusts, estate planning, and special needs advocacy. As a highly credentialed practitioner with a background in tax law, Von is known for his technical precision and his unwavering commitment to his clients. He takes pride in guiding families through complex legal landscapes, empowering them to protect both their rights and their legacy.

In addition to being licensed to practice before all Colorado State Courts, the U.S. District Court for Colorado, and the U.S. Tax Court, Von is a certified mediator. This allows him to offer clients a collaborative, less adversarial path toward resolving sensitive family and probate disputes.

Education & Legislative Impact

Von earned his undergraduate degree in English from Florida State University before receiving his J.D. from the University of Denver as an Aaron Goldfarb Memorial Scholar. He furthered his expertise by earning a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from the University of Denver, consistently recognized as one of the nation’s premier tax law programs.

Beyond his practice, Von has actively shaped Colorado law. During the 2011 legislative session, he drafted language for a bill ensuring family caregivers could serve as both guardians and conservators. In 2012, he successfully advocated for and helped draft amendment language securing a hearsay exception for crime victims with developmental disabilities.

Professional Leadership & Community Roots

Von is a recognized resource within the legal community, leading trainings for the Denver Probate Court, the Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition, and Think + Change. He also serves as a regular faculty member for the National Business Institute (NBI), teaching continuing education to fellow attorneys.

Personal Insight

Von’s dedication to the disability community is personal. As a former foster parent and the adoptive parent of an adult with a disability, he understands the emotional and practical nuances of “planning for the unknown” firsthand.

On the weekends, you will likely find Von cheering on his son at a Special Olympics event. An avid car enthusiast with a soft spot for vintage British motors, he also enjoys exploring Colorado’s historic sites and local breweries.
